Job summary

Talabat, a leading on-demand food and Q-commerce app, seeks a Director for Special Projects & Performance in Qatar. You will own the Qatar P&L end to end, partner with regional teams on budgets, and drive strategic and special projects critical to growth and profitability.

You will lead a team and guide data-driven decisions across all functions. You will oversee performance analyses, AI initiatives, and cross-functional execution, reporting directly to the MD of Qatar and shaping the market's

The Director, Special Projects & Performance - Qatar is a senior leadership role embedded within the Qatar market, reporting directly to the Managing Director of Qatar. Acting as the right hand of the MD, this role is responsible for driving business performance, owning the market P&L, managing a team, and leading strategic and special projects that are critical to Qatar's growth and profitability. This role is fully dedicated to the Qatar market, providing depth of focus, local ownership and hands‑on execution across all aspects of the business.

P&L Ownership & Management:

• Own the Qatar P&L end to end - from budgeting and forecasting to monthly variance analysis and corrective actions
• Partner with regional team to develop the yearly budget and Best Estimate (BE) cycles
• Proactively identify risks and opportunities to exceed financial targets, ensuring the market is consistently on track
• Serve as the primary point of accountability for Qatar's financial performance alongside the MD

Right Hand of the MD:

• Act as a strategic partner to the MD on all key decisions -from commercial strategy to operational priorities
• Represent the MD in internal forums, cross‑functional meetings, and regional discussions when needed
• Prepare the MD for key leadership moments - board reviews, regional check‑ins, and stakeholder presentations, with data‑driven insights and clear recommendations
• Drive alignment across functional heads within Qatar, ensuring priorities are coordinated and execution is on track

Business Performance & Analytical Deep Dives:

• Dive into Qatar's performance metrics across all verticals (Food, Local Shops, tmarts), identifying key trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement
• Create comprehensive and insightful reports for the MD and senior management, highlighting key drivers of change and actionable insights
• Perform detailed analyses of Qatar's competitive landscape, customer behavior, and operational efficiency, identifying turnaround opportunities, growth levers, and profitability improvements
• Develop and recommend strategies based on analysis to improve overall market performance and achieve business objectives.

Special projects:

• Lead and execute all strategic and special projects within Qatar, from scoping to delivery
• Launch new products and initiatives: Develop business use cases with innovative ideas and bring them to life, ensuring they align with strategic goals and add value to the Qatar market
• Drive market turnaround initiatives by identifying key gaps and working alongside local teams on execution.

Driving AI efforts:

• Leading AI and automation efforts within Qatar to identify new use cases to enhance productivity and operational efficiency
• Work with regional talabat team to test, scale and launch new AI tools in Qatar to enhance productivity across functions

Team Management:

• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team within Qatar
• Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and create development plans for team members
• Foster a culture of ownership, curiosity, and high performance within the tea
