Job summary

KEO International invites applications for an Assistant Resident Engineer (Drainage/Utilities) based in Doha, Qatar, to support drainage infrastructure projects on a major client’s secondment.

You will lead the construction supervision team, oversee site engineers, inspectors and surveyors, and ensure delivery in compliance with contract drawings, specifications, programme and budget while maintaining safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university is mandatory, subject to engineer approval.
• Valid Qatar Engineering License (MME/UPDA) is mandatory.
• Minimum 10 years of demonstrable experience in construction supervision.
• Minimum 7 years in ARE or equivalent senior supervision on drainage/infrastructure projects.
• Strong experience in drainage, sewerage, utilities and related civil works.
• Excellent English written and spoken communication.
• Experience in QA/QC, contract administration, HSE and supervision.
• Experience working in Qatar is preferred.

Responsibilities

Our newest opportunity is for a talented Assistant Resident Engineer (Drainage/Utilities) to join our team based in Doha, Qatar, supporting our drainage infrastructure projects and working on secondment to a major client.

This critical role will be responsible for supporting the Resident Engineer in leading the construction supervision team and ensuring that projects are delivered in accordance with the contract, programme, budget and required quality standards. You will oversee the work of Site Engineers, Inspectors, Surveyors and other construction supervision staff.

We envisage success in this role to include;

• Providing leadership and technical direction to the construction supervision team and ensuring adequate site coverage of Contractor activities.
• Supervising and monitoring the execution of drainage, sewerage and associated infrastructure works in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and contractual requirements.
• Reviewing and implementing contract drawings, specifications, method statements and other technical submissions.
• Monitoring construction progress, quality and compliance and ensuring that works are delivered in accordance with the approved programme and project requirements.
• Coordinating the activities of Site Engineers, Inspectors, Surveyors and other disciplines involved in the construction supervision.
• Reviewing technical submissions and supporting the resolution of technical issues arising during construction.
• Demonstrating strong knowledge of constructability, construction methodologies and technology deployment relevant to drainage and infrastructure works.
• Providing technical input into technical and financial proposals, evaluations and project planning as required.
• Preparing and reviewing instructions, specifications, technical reports, cost estimates and other project documentation.
• Monitoring Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and coordinating safety activities across the supervision team.
• Supporting the review, negotiation and settlement of Contractor claims, variations and disputes.
• Coordinating with the Contractor, Consultant and client representatives to ensure effective communication and timely resolution of project issues.
• Identifying potential risks, technical challenges and interface issues and supporting appropriate mitigation and resolution.
• Ensuring effective coordination between drainage, utilities, civil works and other disciplines throughout project delivery.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years holding the position of Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) or equivalent senior supervision role on projects similar to drainage/infrastructure works.
• Strong experience in drainage, sewerage, house connections, utilities and associated civil infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrable experience in technical and financial proposals, technical evaluations, constructability, technology deployment and resolving technical problems during construction.
• Good knowledge of QA/QC, contract administration, HSE and construction supervision.
• Excellent written and spoken English, with strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple work areas and coordinate site supervision teams.
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with relevant engineering/project management software.
• Experience working in Qatar is preferred.
