Job summary

KEO International Consultants in Doha, Qatar, invites a highly experienced Materials Engineer to join our award-winning team. You will ensure that materials used on projects comply with approved specifications, oversee testing, sampling, inspection and approval activities.

The role focuses on reviewing submittals, providing technical guidance to construction teams, supervising sampling and testing of construction materials, and maintaining records of approvals and test results to support QA/QC

Qualifications

  • 10+ years total experience with a minimum of 7 years in a Materials Engineering role
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Experience in roads, highways, expressways or related infrastructure projects
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor certification
  • Qatar Engineering License / UPDA registration
  • Knowledge of QA/QC procedures and quality management systems
  • Strong communication, coordination, reporting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience on Ashghal projects would be an advantage

Responsibilities

  • Review Contractor’s material submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications, approved standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to construction and project teams on materials-related matters.
  • Supervise sampling and testing of construction materials in accordance with the contract, project specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Monitor laboratory and field testing activities and review test results to verify compliance with specified requirements.
  • Review and evaluate materials test results and recommend actions to project management.
  • Ensure materials delivered to site are inspected and verified for compliance with approved submittals and project requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Contractor, testing laboratories, construction teams, and other stakeholders on materials inspection, testing, approval, and compliance matters.
  • Provide regular reports on materials testing, approvals, non-conformances, and other quality-related activities.

Responsibilities

Our newest opportunity is for a talented Materials Engineer to join our award-winning team based in Doha, Qatar.

This position will be responsible for ensuring that materials used on the project comply with approved specifications, standards, and contractual requirements, while overseeing materials testing, sampling, inspection, and approval activities.

We envisage success in this role to include:

  • Reviewing and monitoring the Contractor’s material submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications, approved standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to the construction and project teams on materials-related matters.
  • Supervising and participating in the sampling and testing of construction materials in accordance with the contract, project specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Monitoring laboratory and field testing activities and reviewing test results to verify compliance with specified requirements.
  • Reviewing and evaluating materials test results and recommending appropriate actions to the Senior Resident Engineer or relevant project management.
  • Ensuring that all materials delivered to site are inspected and verified for compliance with approved material submittals and project requirements.
  • Monitoring the quality and suitability of materials used in road and infrastructure construction works.
  • Reviewing and maintaining records of material approvals, test results, inspection reports, certificates of compliance, and corrective actions.
  • Tracking and reviewing site testing schedules, laboratory reports, and certificates of compliance to ensure timely completion.
  • Identifying materials-related non-conformances and following up to ensure appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented and closed out.
  • Participating in construction quality control activities and supporting the implementation of project QA/QC requirements.
  • Coordinating with the Contractor, testing laboratories, construction teams, and other stakeholders on materials inspection, testing, approval, and compliance matters.
  • Conducting regular inspections and surveillance of materials storage, handling, sampling, and testing activities.
  • Supporting quality audits and monitoring compliance with approved quality management systems and project procedures.
  • Providing regular reports and updates on materials testing, approvals, non-conformances, and other quality-related activities.
  • Ensuring that all materials-related activities are carried out in accordance with project specifications, approved procedures, applicable standards, and Client requirements.
Qualifications

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include more than 10 years of total experience, including a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a similar Materials Engineering role, partnered with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

You will also have:

  • Proven experience in roads, highways, expressways, or related infrastructure projects.
  • Strong experience in construction materials, including materials inspection, sampling, laboratory and field testing, material approvals, and quality control.
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor certification.
  • Valid Qatar Engineering License / UPDA registration.
  • Good knowledge of relevant construction materials, testing procedures, specifications, standards, and quality requirements for road and infrastructure projects.
  • Experience reviewing material submittals, test results, certificates of compliance, and related technical documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC procedures and quality management systems.
  • Strong communication, coordination, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience working on Ashghal projects in Qatar would be an advantage.
  • Approval for the same position and grade would be an advantage.
