About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead a backend development team working on Sky’s OTT & Streaming Platforms. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical foundations with people leadership, and who thrives in a collaborative, high-performance environment.

You will be the most senior member of the team, responsible for guiding technical execution, fostering team growth, and ensuring delivery excellence. While not expected to be hands-on daily, you should be comfortable stepping in to support code reviews, pull requests, and technical decisions when needed.

Lead and mentor a team of backend developers, fostering a culture of ownership, learning, and collaboration.
Support the team in technical delivery, including architecture discussions, code reviews, and quality assurance.
Partner with Sky stakeholders to align on priorities, timelines, and technical direction.
Drive continuous improvement in development practices, tooling, and team performance.
Facilitate onboarding, career development, and performance feedback for team members.
Ensure the team is equipped to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-availability systems.
Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, or similar leadership role.
Strong background in backend development with experience in Java, Kotlin, .NET, or other modern stacks.
Familiarity with microservices architecture, API development, CI/CD, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
Experience working in agile environments and managing cross-functional teams.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Located in Lisbon or willing to travel for occasional onsite meetings.
