simplesurance is looking for a Team Lead Software Development to guide a small-to-mid backend team building JVM-based microservices. You’ll blend hands-on development with architectural leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver reliable, scalable services that power our digital insurance platform.

• Strong knowledge of Java/Kotlin ecosystems and architecture.

• Lead the design and evolution of Java & Kotlin systems, driving architecture decisions, service decomposition, and technical direction.
• Ensure high code quality through architecture reviews, code reviews, refactoring, and solid engineering practices (testing, clean code, CI/CD).
• Mentor engineers: share expertise in the JVM ecosystem and foster continuous learning and collaboration.
• Own the full software lifecycle: design, implement features and tests, deploy, monitor production health, and post-release stability.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, QA, DevOps and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions and mitigate risks.
• Drive team growth: support onboarding, participate in hiring and technical interviews, and shape career paths.

About The Job

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and evolution of Java & Kotlin systems, driving architecture decisions, service decomposition, and technical direction.

• Drive team growth: support onboarding, participate in hiring and technical interviews, and help shape hiring criteria and career development paths.

Bring to the Team

• Deep expertise in Java & Kotlin, Spring Boot/Cloud, microservices and REST API design.
• Strong JVM fundamentals: concurrency, GC/heap tuning, performance troubleshooting.
• Cloud + infra experience (AWS, containers/Kubernetes, CI/CD).
• Messaging & async patterns (Kafka, MQ) and resilient system design.
• Automated testing & API testing (unit/integration, REST Assured/Postman) and observability (Grafana/ELK/Prometheus).
• Proven leadership: system design, code reviews, mentoring, hiring and cross-functional collaboration.
