Vodafone Group plc in Portugal seeks a senior tax professional to lead planning and compliance. You will ensure timely returns, lead tax projects, and support business initiatives with robust tax perspectives.

The role requires 6 years’ tax experience, expertise in international and Portuguese tax, and excellent English. A hybrid work model and exposure to SAP are desirable.

Qualificações

• Degree in Accounting/Management/Taxation is required.
• 6 years’ experience in taxation, ideally in a multinational or consulting setting.
• Expertise in International Tax Planning & Portuguese Taxation.

Responsabilidades

• Implement and optimise tax planning strategies in accordance with local and Group requirements.
• Ensure all tax returns, payments, and reporting obligations are accurate and submitted within deadlines.
• Manage tax appeal processes, liaise with tax auditors, and defend Vodafone’s position.
• Define, review, and approve internal/external tax procedures and group tax reporting.
• Provide tax support to business projects and monitor tax changes.

Lead and inspire the Tax team to deliver Vodafone Portugal’s tax planning and compliance objectives, ensuring all activities are aligned with Vodafone’s strategic goals and high standards of integrity. The role is responsible for fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring that all tax operations support the company’s business objectives while upholding Group values and regulatory requirements.

What you’ll do

• Implement and optimise tax planning strategies in accordance with both local and Group requirements, identifying opportunities for tax benefits;
• Ensure all tax returns, payments, and reporting obligations are accurate and submitted within legal deadlines;
• Manage tax appeal processes, liaise with tax auditors, and ensure Vodafone’s position is well-supported and defended;
• Define, review, and approve internal/external tax procedures and group tax reporting, ensuring alignment with Group and local rules;
• Provide tax support to business projects, monitor tax changes, and promote necessary internal adaptations to maintain compliance.

Who you are

• Degree in Accounting /Management/ Taxation;
• 6 years’ experience in taxation, ideally in a multinational or consulting setting;
• Degree in Accounting/ Management/ Taxation with 4-6 years’ experience in tax consultancy;
• Expertise in International Tax Planning & Portuguese Taxation;
• Analytical and decision-making skills for assessing tax risks and providing sound judgement;
• Collaboration and communication skills to work with internal teams, tax authorities, advisors, and auditors;
• In-depth knowledge of international and Portuguese tax legislation;
• Experience working with SAP is a plus;
• High proficiency in English.
