Job summary

WiZink, a leading digital bank, seeks a Senior Legal Counsel in Lisbon to provide comprehensive legal support across consumer lending, contract work, and regulatory matters. You will partner with business teams to navigate European banking laws and drive legally sound, business-focused solutions.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in banking or financial services, a law degree, English fluency (Spanish is a plus), and a commercial, collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

• Law degree (LLB) or Master’s in Law required.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience in banking/financial services, international firms, or heavily regulated industries.
• Solid understanding of consumer credit and consumer protection frameworks.
• Proven experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.

Responsibilities

• Advisory leadership providing legal guidance on banking activities, especially consumer lending.
• Contract mastery: reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and validating contracts, outsourcing, SLAs, and policies.
• Dispute management: handling disputes, claims, and coordinating with external counsel when needed.
• Regulatory interface: preparing documentation for supervisory reviews and regulatory inquiries; supporting regulator interactions.
• Compliance watch: reviewing marketing and communications for legal/regulatory compliance.
• Strategic risk identification: assessing legal risks and aligning with risk appetite.
• Management reporting: preparing legal reports and updates for senior management.
