Staff Software Engineer - Connectivity & Data Platforms

Job summary

Dremio is seeking a senior software engineer to lead connectivity work and design scalable, reliable data-access solutions. You will own medium-to-large features, drive architecture discussions, and partner with Product, QA, Support, and SRE to ensure robust, production-ready connectivity across drivers and protocols.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of production software engineering experience or equivalent depth demonstrated through ownership of complex systems and features.
• Deep proficiency in Java, C++, Rust, Go, or other systems languages with ability to work across related languages.
• Experience designing and debugging APIs, protocols, client libraries, drivers, or distributed services; strong knowledge of concurrency, networking and failure handling.
• Experience building unit, integration, and performance tests with CI/CD and release processes.

Responsibilities

• Own substantial connectivity work: lead features or service components from problem definition through release and handoff.
• Define milestones, acceptance criteria, dependencies, estimates, and risks for complex goals.
• Design scalable, maintainable systems; produce architectural designs and trade-off analyses.
• Diagnose complex failures across client/server, protocols, and distributed systems using logs and telemetry.
• Maintain API and protocol stability; establish compatibility and migration paths for clients.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, Support, SRE, Documentation, and external partners to resolve dependencies.
• Mentor engineers, participate in code/design reviews, and contribute to upstream open-source projects.
