CoW DAO is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to own our backend services and shape future features. You will design off‑chain components, implement fast Rust services, and interact with Solidity contracts in a DeFi environment.

The role emphasizes code quality, leadership, and collaboration within a remote, Europe‑friendly team. You will mentor others, improve performance, and contribute to an open‑source codebase.

Qualificações

• 8+ years of production experience with systems‑level programming languages, with at least 3+ years using Rust.
• Practical experience in web3, ideally in DeFi and the Ethereum ecosystem.
• Excellent computer science, programming, and algorithmic skills.
• Experience operating, maintaining, and architecting complex software systems.
• A strong focus on code quality, readability, observability, and testability.
• Proactive technical leadership to improve performance, prevent issues, optimise data usage, and refactor code.
• Strong communicator, team player, and willing to share expertise.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a remote‑first team on a large, open‑source codebase.
• Senior experience, able to mentor colleagues and provide direction.
• Excitement to explore and gain experience with Ethereum.

Responsabilidades

• Architect and design off‑chain services (core auction protocol and orderbook) to support feature growth.
• Write concurrent backend systems in Rust, interact with Solidity contracts, and understand auction mechanisms and DeFi protocols.
• Participate in on‑call rotation to ensure production reliability (on‑call work is compensated).
• Collaborate with researchers and product teams to ship features and devise solutions for technical problems.
• Deliver high‑quality code for features from concept to production with robust monitoring.
• Provide thoughtful code reviews of colleagues’ contributions to open‑source codebase.
