Job summary

Wirtek in Porto is seeking a seasoned TechOps professional to join a leading energy operator. You will manage, integrate and operate OT infrastructure, focusing on SCADA databases, GIS records, and data consistency between systems to ensure grid availability and performance.

You will optimize backup and recovery processes, monitor databases, and document procedures. Fluent Portuguese and technical English are required, with experience in Oracle/SQL Server/PostgreSQL and OT protocols.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of SCADA systems, including data modeling, points, alarms and network topology.
• Experience with backup, recovery and performance monitoring processes.
• Experience managing relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server or PostgreSQL) and strong SQL skills.
• Knowledge of GIS systems and electrical network modeling.
• Ability to work in critical environments with a high degree of rigor and responsibility.
• Fluent Portuguese; technical English.

About the job

We are looking for a professional to join the TechOps team of a leading energy operator in Portugal. The role covers managing, integrating and operating strategic systems for the operational technology (OT) infrastructure. The goal is to keep the systems that monitor and control the grid available, accurate and performing well.

What you'll be doing:

• Manage and maintain the SCADA databases, keeping operations-critical data reliable, consistent and performing well.
• Manage and maintain the GIS records of the grid’s physical assets (lines, substations, equipment), which form the basis of the network model.
• Keep data consistent between SCADA and the GIS network records, finding and fixing discrepancies.

Nice to have:

• Experience in the electricity sector (distribution or transmission) or in utilities.
• Knowledge of OT protocols (IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus).
• Experience with ETL tools or scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
