Team IT in Lisbon is seeking a Senior Solution Architecture Lead to build and mentor a high-performing team of Solution Architects across engineering domains. You will define and drive the architecture vision and roadmap, ensuring end-to-end consistency with Enterprise Architecture objectives.

You will guide teams in designing cloud-native, scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems on AWS/Azure, manage technical debt, and promote resilience, security, and governance.

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience leading architecture teams and technical chapters.

Solution Architecture Lead - Is that you?

Location: Lisbon (Hybrid) Experience Level: Senior Language: English (minimum B2)

Key Responsibilities

• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of Solution Architects across multiple engineering domains.
• Define and drive the Solution Architecture vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with Enterprise Architecture objectives.
• Ensure end-to-end architectural consistency across business capabilities, products, and technology platforms.
• Guide engineering teams in designing and delivering scalable, secure, cloud-native, and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Establish and enforce architectural standards focused on resilience, high availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, and risk management.
• Actively manage technical debt and promote sustainable architectural practices that balance business priorities with long-term platform health.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Security, Product, and Enterprise Architecture stakeholders to drive governance and modern architectural patterns.

Required Skills & Experience

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
• Several years of experience in Solution Architecture, Software Architecture, or related technical leadership roles.
• Proven leadership experience managing architecture teams, technical chapters, or engineering organizations.
• Strong hands-on software engineering background with modern programming languages and distributed systems.
• Experience designing and operating solutions on AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
• Deep understanding of Cloud-Native Architectures, microservices, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Solid knowledge of High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity principles.
• Experience managing and reducing technical debt while maintaining delivery speed and platform stability.
• Strong expertise in architectural governance, solution design reviews, and technology decision-making.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strategic mindset combined with the ability to provide hands-on technical guidance.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Event-Driven Architecture and asynchronous integration patterns.
• Practical knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and API-First approaches.
• Experience implementing resilience practices such as failure testing, chaos engineering, and architecture maturity assessments.
• Knowledge of security frameworks, compliance requirements, and NIS2 directives.
• Experience with platform modernization and large-scale transformation initiatives.
• Background in DevOps, observability, monitoring, and Site Reliability Engineering practices.
• Relevant cloud or architecture certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or TOGAF.
• Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe.
