Job summary

Decskill is growing and seeks a Site Reliability Engineer (Azure) to join our cloud-focused team in Portugal. You will design, deploy and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure using Terraform and IaC, and automate secure, repeatable deployments for data-platform workloads.

You will troubleshoot complex incidents, optimize data-processing services and collaborate with distributed teams across Europe. Strong Azure expertise and English communication are essential to succeed.

Qualifications

• 3-6 years of professional experience in Site Reliability Engineering or related field.
• 4-5 years of confirmed experience with Microsoft Azure services and components.
• Experience designing cloud automation and IaC solutions.
• Experience supporting data processing and analytics platforms in production.
• Experience managing complex incidents and troubleshooting cloud infra.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure using Terraform and IaC.
• Automate reliable, secure and repeatable deployments of cloud infra and data workloads.
• Fully automate complex requests including cloud accounts and SSL renewals.
• Improve cloud adoption and operational efficiency via self-service and platform practices.
• Provide operational support for data processing and analytics services.
• Support Azure data services (Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Event Hubs, Storage).
• Work with Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
• Support AI and application services (Azure ML, Cognitive Services, AI Foundry).
• Create, manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Git; integrate security into pipelines.
• Manage Level 2/3 incidents, use Datadog and Azure Monitor for incident resolution.

We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (Azure)!

Project Context:

The project focuses on evolving a cloud platform through a new generation of cloud automation, self-service capabilities and platform engineering products. This initiative supports broader cloud adoption, improved operational efficiency and secure, governed access to cloud capabilities.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on accelerating and improving the reliability of infrastructure and data-platform deployments through DevOps practices. It requires strong expertise in cloud technologies, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, automation, incident management and security. This is not a basic Level 1 support role; it involves end-to-end automation and complex problem-solving across Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 issues.

Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles.
• Automate reliable, secure and repeatable deployments of cloud infrastructure and data-platform workloads.
• Fully automate complex standard requests, including cloud accounts, service principals and SSL certificate renewals.
• Improve cloud adoption and operational efficiency through self-service capabilities and platform engineering practices.
• Provide operational support for data processing and analytics services, continuously improving reliability, performance, security and alignment with business needs.
• Support and maintain Azure data and analytics services, including Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Event Hubs, Event Grid and Azure Storage.
• Work with databases and data services such as Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL Flexible Server and SQL Server.
• Support AI and application services, including Azure Machine Learning, Cognitive Services and AI Foundry.

CI/CD & DevOps

• Create, manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Git and related tools.
• Apply DevOps best practices to ensure repeatable, efficient and secure software and infrastructure delivery.
• Integrate security controls into deployment pipelines and automation processes.

Incident Management & Reliability

• Manage Level 2 and Level 3 incidents, performing troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Use monitoring tools such as Datadog and Azure Monitor to identify, investigate and resolve complex incidents.
• Proactively improve cloud service reliability, performance, availability and security.
• Automate operational tasks and continuously improve cloud operations.

Requirements:

Experience

• 3-6 years of professional experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Engineering, DevOps or a related field.
• At least 4-5 years of confirmed experience with Microsoft Azure services and components.
• Proven experience designing and implementing cloud automation and Infrastructure as Code solutions.
• Experience supporting data processing and analytics platforms in production environments.
• Experience managing complex incidents and troubleshooting cloud infrastructure and services.

Technical Skills

• Expert knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Strong expertise in Azure DevOps, including Pipelines, Boards and Repos, and excellent proficiency in Git.
• Experience with GitHub Actions and CI/CD automation.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, including Storage Accounts, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, SQL Database and Azure Cost Management.
• Familiarity with Databricks, Azure Data Explorer, Stream Analytics, Event Hubs, Event Grid and IoT Hub.
• Knowledge of databases and storage services, including Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL Flexible Server and SQL Server.
• Familiarity with Azure Machine Learning, Cognitive Services and AI Foundry.
• Good understanding of IT fundamentals, including Active Directory, TCP/IP, DNS and HTTPS.
• Knowledge of security principles, including SSL certificates and network isolation.
• Advanced proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language, such as Python or Bash/Shell.
• Solid experience with Linux (Red Hat) and Windows Server.
• Experience with monitoring and incident management tools such as Datadog and Azure Monitor.
