Job summary

Elastic's Observability Streams team is building Elastic's unified data pipeline. As a Senior software engineer on the Streams Backend team, you will help design and develop backend services powering data routing, processing, and delivery at scale, including Logstash and related plugins.

You will collaborate across time zones, contribute to OpenTelemetry, and mentor peers while maintaining strong test coverage and reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience in Java, Golang or Ruby and ability to work across codebases.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Clear written communication in a distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features for Logstash and plugins in Java/JRuby.
• Build and operate core backend services for the Streams program in Golang.
• Contribute to the OpenTelemetry Collector in Golang.
• Tackle distributed systems challenges at scale.
• Maintain and improve existing code with test coverage.
• Collaborate with public GitHub repositories and communities.
• Provide PR reviews and guidance to peers.
• Work with other teams to drive product goals.
• Assist customers, including on-call rotation.
