Elasticsearch B.V. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to drive backend design for the Streams data pipeline and Logstash.

The role focuses on building scalable services, contributing to OpenTelemetry, and supporting enterprise customers in a distributed, remote-first environment. You will work with Java, Golang and Ruby across Logstash plugins and core backend components, participate in on-call rotations, and collaborate with global teams to meet product goals while promoting robust,

Qualifications

• Must thrive in a remote-first, distributed environment with strong written and spoken communication.
• Analytical and debugging skills with ability to derive efficient solutions.
• Proven track record using AI to accelerate development and optimize code while owning outcomes.
• Proficient in at least one of Java, Golang, Ruby and willing to work across others.

Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing new features for Logstash and its plugins in Java and JRuby.
• Building and operating core backend services for the Streams program in Golang.
• Contributing to OpenTelemetry Collector in Golang.
• Solving hard distributed systems problems at scale.
• Maintaining and improving existing code with test coverage.
• Engaging with public GitHub repositories and community forums.
• Providing Pull Request reviews and peer guidance.
• Collaborating with teams to drive product goals.
• Participating in on-call rotations to assist customers.
