Descrição da oferta de emprego

Hi I’m Abhik, Ashby’s Co-Founder and VP of Engineering. We’re looking for an ambitious full‑stack engineer who is laser‑focused on solving customer problems and making the right long‑term investments to solve them not only today but in our future features and products.

We are offering the best of both early and growth‑stage environments. The agency and no‑nonsense of a seed startup: you write product specs, make product and design decisions, and build in an almost‑no‑meeting culture. While also the product‑market fit and scale of a growth‑stage startup: tens of thousands of daily users who depend on your software and eagerly await your next feature.

We serve customers such as Notion, Linear, Shopify, and Snowflake. Our growth and retention metrics are best‑in‑class among our peers: tens of millions in ARR, growing >100% year over year, very low churn, and many years of runway.

About The Role And How We Work

Our engineering culture strives to recreate the environments where we did our best work as individuals: ownership, agency, and impact.

About

At Ashby, we’re building an environment that is optimistic about what engineers can own and achieve. As a Product Engineer, you’ll take ownership over a large portion of one of our products and own projects end‑to‑end. You’ll research competitors, write product specs, make wireframes, and more.

  • Designed and built automated interview scheduling that calculates possible times from a pool of interviewers and other constraints, presenting them to the candidate in our responsive web app.
  • Built a generalized declarative filter architecture that allows users to create complex filters for any record with a consistent UI and compile it to SQL in the backend.
  • Spec’d, designed, and implemented a feature allowing users to complete signing offers entirely within Ashby, involving customer research, prototyping, and integration with other systems.
What We’re Building

We built Ashby to help talent acquisition teams do more with less. Scheduling a final round becomes a single, efficient flow, eliminating manual “Calendar Tetris” tasks and lowering interview load.

Why You Should or Shouldn’t Apply
  • You’re comfortable tackling any part of a technology stack and write code, design, or choose infrastructure as needed.
  • You’ve handled projects with product and technical ambiguity and thrive at the intersection of both.
  • You balance speed and quality, understanding that we moved quickly but maintain high standards.
  • You’re ambitious and always seek to improve, open to feedback and mentorship.
  • You collaborate and communicate clearly, keeping stakeholders informed.
  • You create leverage by automating tedious work and building tools that prevent bugs.
Put Another Way, You Shouldn’t Apply If
  • You need company‑driven process and structure to complete projects, like sprint planning or well‑defined project management.
  • You only want to do exciting work and dislike customer issue investigations that spread across the team.
  • You get lost in details and prefer everything planned upfront; you struggle to step back.
  • You've never led or taken ownership of projects; you have only followed directions from leads.
  • You wish to mentor early‑career engineers; our team is mostly senior, so mentorship opportunities are limited.
  • You view a tech lead or senior engineer as someone who spends most time planning or reviewing; in reality, they focus on building and solving challenging problems.
Engineering Culture
  • Minimal process with ownership on decisions normally made by product and design.
  • Natural collaboration and deliberate communication.
  • Investing in tools and abstractions that give us leverage.
  • Building a diverse team.
Minimal Process & Lots of Ownership

We expect engineers to deliver reliably while owning projects. Stakeholders stay informed, but there is no ceremony that stifles innovation.

Collaboration is Natural & Communication is Deliberate

We value living‑learning engineers who communicate proactively. Focus time is sacred, and meetings are kept to a few hours per week.

Increase Leverage, Not Team Size
  • Great developer tooling: CI/CD takes ~10 min, 15 deployments per day.
  • Building blocks to create powerful and customizable products fast, with core components such as analytics, policy engine, workflow, design system.
  • AI‑powered tooling that automates mundane parts, auto‑triage issues, suggest fixes, prototype ideas, generate code, and conduct reviews.
Put Effort into Diversity

We believe diverse teams drive innovation. 25 % of engineers and 50 % of leaders are from underrepresented groups. We source diverse candidates, offer paid family leave, and eliminate leetcode interviews.

Interview Process
Our Interview Process Is Three Rounds
  • Introduction call with Hiring Manager (15‑30 min, live).
  • Technical screen: pair programming in our codebase (1 h).
  • Three non‑coding interviews focused on product thinking, technical design, and infrastructure (3 h 15 m total; can split across days).

We may add a 30‑minute recruiter screen if leadership bandwidth allows. Feedback is provided after each round or if we do not extend an offer.

Your First Three Months at Ashby

We provide a smooth onboarding: single‑script dev environment, first product change on day one, and ramping through increasingly complex features. Managers conduct 30‑, 60‑, and 90‑day reviews.

Technology Stack

TypeScript (frontend & backend), React, GraphQL API, Node.js, Postgres, Redis, and many other languages if you adapt quickly. Typed languages are preferred, but a love of fundamentals matters most.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary and equity.
  • 10‑year exercise window for stock options.
  • Unlimited PTO.
  • Minimum 12 weeks fully paid parental leave; longer overseas.
  • Generous equipment, software, and office furniture budget.
  • $100/month education budget; larger items covered with approval.
  • Top‑tier health insurance fully covered for US employees; supplemental plans for others.
Equal Employment Opportunity

Ashby provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetics, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce and welcome people from all backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, and abilities.

Ashby is committed to a fair and transparent hiring process. The position is currently available and we may use AI‑driven tools to assist the recruitment team in screening, assessing, and selecting candidates.

Compensation Range: €98 K – €133 K.
