Job summary

Kake is a remote-first, people-first global community of senior engineers, with 45,000+ engineers across 55+ countries. We’re seeking Senior Rust Engineers who own complex, end-to-end challenges and drive engineering best practices in scalable, memory-safe backend systems.

You’ll design, implement, and lead high-performance Rust services using Tokio, Cargo, and distributed systems patterns, while collaborating across time zones and maintaining robust CI/CD workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on Rust
• Deep understanding of Rust concepts: ownership model, borrow checker, lifetimes, traits, macros
• Experience with systems programming, multithreading, concurrency, performance-critical apps
• Hands-on async programming in Rust, using Tokio
• Proficiency with the Rust toolchain (Cargo), modern Git workflows, and CI/CD pipelines
• Proven experience designing scalable backend services and distributed systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent English communication
• Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, memory-safe backend services and distributed systems in Rust.
• Write high-performance, concurrent code using strong systems programming principles.
• Build and maintain asynchronous services using Tokio and async/await patterns.
• Apply core Rust concepts to write robust, idiomatic code.
• Lead architectural decisions and raise engineering standards across projects.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production challenges in distributed systems.
• Contribute to tooling, best practices, and CI/CD improvements.
• Maintain modern Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines to support reliable delivery.
