Job summary

Five9 is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join the Core Software Quality Engineering team. You will own and automate the testing of a complex backend and frontend REST APIs, while modernizing the Python-based testing framework.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in test automation with framework ownership
• Hands-on Python 3; other OOP languages a plus
• Strong knowledge of programming techniques, including OOP and multithreading
• Experience automating REST APIs and/or SDK interfaces (Python/Java/C++)
• Solid Linux skills and understanding of SDLC and testing methodologies
• Experience with version control and issue tracking (Git, JIRA)
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; collaborative cross-team work

Responsibilities

About The Role

As a Senior Quality Engineer, you’ll join the Core Software Quality Engineering organization and help ensure every Five9 release is reliable. You’ll work in a delivery team that owns an end-to-end, complex backend solution. You’ll build and maintain automated tests for our web frontend and REST APIs, and help modernize the Python-based framework behind them.

What You’ll Do

• Design, write, and maintain end-to-end automated tests for the Five9 Virtual Contact Center application as part of a delivery team
• Analyze test results using framework and product logs, and investigate failures down to root cause
• Extend and support the Python automation framework, and build internal tools that make testing faster and more reliable
• Modernize the framework by improving CI/CD integration, parallel execution, and stability, and by reducing flaky tests
• Identify weak points in existing automated flows, fix them, and track their efficiency over time
• Partner with Development, DevOps, and TechOps to align automation priorities with company strategy
• Take part in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, Increment planning) and contribute ideas that improve our tools and processes

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience in test automation roles, with a track record of owning framework design or technical decisions
• Hands-on experience with Python 3 (other OOP languages are a plus)
• Solid knowledge of programming techniques and algorithms, including OOP and multithreading
• Experience automating REST APIs and/or SDK-type interfaces (Python, Java, C++, etc.)
• Strong Linux skills
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and testing methodologies
• Experience with version control and issue tracking (Git, JIRA)
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, and a collaborative approach to working across teams

Nice to have

• Experience with Selenium
• Experience designing or extending test automation frameworks (pytest, Robot Framework, or custom)
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud environments (AWS/GCP)
• Knowledge of contact center, telephony, or CCaaS technologies (WebRTC, SIP, CTI)
• Experience mentoring other engineers

Workplace location: This role is fully remote for candidates who reside outside Porto, Maia, Matosinhos, Gondomar, Valongo e Vila Nova de Gaia. Candidates who reside within those municipalities would be required to work in-office 3 days a week.
