Payabl is expanding its Core Gateway team and seeks a Senior Backend Developer with strong Python expertise and experience in Perl. You will maintain the Perl-based payment gateway while architecting and building a next-generation Python microservices platform, ensuring high reliability in production.

This remote role is open to Portugal and Ukraine, with an agile culture, emphasis on clean coding, and collaboration across multiple departments.

Qualificações

• 5+ years backend engineering experience with Python mastery (AsyncIO and FastAPI preferred).
• Experience with Perl production code and polyglot engineering.
• Solid experience integrating third-party APIs, webhooks, and retry policies.

Responsabilidades

• Maintain and extend Perl-based payment gateway for stability and feature growth.
• Design, develop, and maintain Python microservices for a modern platform.
• Integrate third-party APIs and payment services across legacy and modern layers.
• Collaborate in an Agile environment with strong English communication across teams.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud deployments.
