Devoteam Portugal is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Python) to join our Nearshore delivery team in Porto, Portugal, working Hybrid/Full-time. You will design, build, and maintain high-performance backend services and REST APIs for fintech-aligned platforms.

You will own core architecture, handle data ingestion, distributed systems, and cloud deployments (AWS/GCP/Azure) with CI/CD, collaborating in an agile environment. Prior experience in Python and scalable systems is essential.

Qualificações

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience with a proven track record of owning systems end-to-end in production.
• 3+ years of strong hands-on experience with Python (or a similar backend language with total willingness to work primarily in Python).
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems: asynchronous processing, message queues, pub/sub, idempotency, retries, and eventual consistency.
• Solid experience designing and versioning clean, developer-friendly RESTful APIs.
• Advanced knowledge of relational database modeling and query performance (PostgreSQL or MySQL).
• Comfortable working in Cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) with CI/CD deployment pipelines.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable customer-facing REST APIs and backend services using Python.
• Own core product architecture end-to-end, ensuring high availability, performance, and stringent security standards.
• Develop high-performance data ingestion, web scraping, and parsing layers to process real-time data.
• Architect distributed system workflows, including asynchronous processing, queues, pub/sub mechanisms, and event-driven architectures.
• Manage and optimize relational database models (PostgreSQL/MySQL) under high load.
• Collaborate in an agile, product-minded engineering environment, shipping code frequently and driving technical best practices.
