Job summary

Nimber is seeking an experienced Senior PowerBuilder Developer to join a challenging project in the financial markets sector. You will design, develop and modernise business-critical applications, combining PowerBuilder expertise with SQL development and production support.

The role requires proven financial markets experience, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver reliable technical solutions in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional experience with PowerBuilder, including PowerScript, DataWindow and DataStores.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL, including stored procedures and query optimisation.
• Proven experience working on financial markets projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance and maintain enterprise applications using PowerBuilder.
• Analyse business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures and database objects.
• Investigate application issues, perform debugging and implement performance improvements.
• Support production deployments and resolve incidents within agreed SLAs.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, project managers, QA teams and developers.
• Participate in code reviews and promote development standards and best practices.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, including solution designs and deployment procedures.
• Estimate development efforts and contribute to project planning.
• Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced developers when required.

You'll play a key role in developing, maintaining and modernising business-critical applications, combining strong PowerBuilder expertise with SQL development and production support.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design, develop, enhance and maintain enterprise applications using PowerBuilder.

What We're Looking For

• At least 5 years of professional experience with PowerBuilder, including PowerScript, DataWindow and DataStores.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL, including stored procedures and query optimisation.
• Proven experience working on financial markets projects (mandatory).
• Good understanding of financial instruments and the trade lifecycle.
• Experience with application maintenance, production support and troubleshooting in business-critical environments.
• Proficiency in Git for version control.
• Knowledge of n-tier application architectures.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• English proficiency at C1 level or above, both written and spoken.

Nice to Have

• Experience with PowerBuilder 2019 or 2022.
• Previous involvement in application upgrades, migrations or modernisation projects.
• Knowledge of REST/SOAP web services and data formats such as JSON and XML.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and CI/CD practices.
