Northern Health is seeking a Senior Consumer Peer Support Worker to join the inpatient mental health units at The Northern Hospital, Epping. You will mentor other peer workers, support the development of consumer initiatives, and represent the consumer perspective in clinical and leadership discussions.

Applicants should have lived experience of mental illness, knowledge of the public mental health system, and a minimum of two years in a consumer peer support role, with current police checks.

Qualifications

• Personal lived experience of mental illness and accessing mental health services.
• Understanding of public mental health system and relevant acts.
• Current National Police and Working with Children History Check.
• Minimum of 2 years working within a designated Consumer lived experience peer support role.
• Intentional Peer Support Core training.

Responsabilités

• Guide, support and mentor Level 2 Consumer Peer Support Workers.
• Orientation and mentoring of new Consumer Peer Support Workers.
• Education of multidisciplinary team about the role of Consumer Peer Support.
• Lead co-design projects to improve services and care for Consumers in inpatient setting.
• Advise from a Consumer lived experience perspective in clinical reviews and leadership meetings.
• Connect with consumers to understand their experience and recovery.
• Provide non-clinical peer support using lived experience.
