Job summary

Bial is seeking a Finance Operations leader in Portugal to drive end-to-end finance processes across AP, AR, Treasury, Travel & Expenses and General Ledger, ensuring accuracy, compliance and scalability.

The role leads monthly closes, prepares local GAAP statements, oversees daily accounting for foreign entities, strengthens internal controls, and partners with other functions to optimize end-to-end performance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Economics, Management or Accounting.
• Previous finance experience in Finance Operations or related.
• Strong motivation to lead and develop teams.
• Enthusiasm and results oriented.
• ERP and MSOffice skills.
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate monthly close process for all entities and ensure deadlines and compliance.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements according to Local GAAP for all entities.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for all entities (GL, AR, AP, fixed assets).
• Implement robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy of financial information.
• Collaborate with other departments to optimize end-to-end processes and service delivery.
• Lead and develop Finance Operations teams and foster a culture of accountability and improvement.
• Monitor performance and service quality in alignment with senior leadership and group needs.

Responsible for leading and continuously improving end-to-end finance operations processes, ensuring efficient, compliant, accurate, timely, and scalable financial and accounting end-to-end service delivery across Bial Group. This position drives operational excellence across all Bial Group Finance Operations, namely, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury Operations, Travel & Expense and General Ledger activities.

The Impact You’ll Make

• Coordinate the monthly close process for all entities, ensuring global deadlines are met and compliance with reporting requirements;
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Local GAAP for all entities;
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for all foreign entities, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fixed assets;
• Ensure proper controls and checks are in place to guarantee the reliability of the accounting and tax reported information;
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial information;
• Facilitate collaboration with other departments in cross-functional processes, promoting the best possible solutions from an end-to-end perspective;
• Ensure high-quality service delivery across all operational finance processes.
• Develop and execute the Finance Operations strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
• Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Drive service quality and operational effectiveness across internal and external stakeholders.
• Monitor operational performance and service quality in alignment with Senior Leadership and group needs.
• Ensure finance operations are executed in accordance with Group accounting policies, procedures and internal control requirements, supporting internal and external audit activities;
• Ensure process standardization and improvement across Bial Group;
• Serve as the primary escalation point for finance operational matters, ensuring effective stakeholder management and issue resolution;
• Lead and develop Finance Operations teams, including talent development and retention;
• Foster a culture of collaboration, agility, and innovation;
• Comply with the Quality, Environmental, R&D, Health and Safety Policies, Standards and Procedures;
• Collaborate in all team activities, as needed.

What You’ll Bring
