Job summary

Arbe-it is seeking a Senior Java Back-End Developer to lead the design and development of complex microservices for a Unified Commerce project. You will drive architectural decisions, mentor engineers and promote secure development practices.

Based in Portugal, Lisbon-hybrid with three days a week in the office, you will collaborate with product owners and architects, work on IAM initiatives with Keycloak and Okta, and improve performance and code quality.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong expertise in Java and experience with React.
• Solid knowledge of microservices architecture, IAM concepts and secure development practices.
• Hands-on experience with Keycloak, Okta and OIDC.
• Proven ability to lead technical discussions, support engineering teams and drive code quality.
• English and Portuguese proficiency at C1 level.
• Candidates must currently reside in Portugal.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex Java microservices across Unified Commerce products.
• Define and promote architectural standards, coding best practices and secure development practices.
• Lead Identity and Access Management (IAM) initiatives involving Keycloak, Okta federation and OIDC flows.
• Collaborate with client Product Owners and Architects, leading technical discussions and representing the engineering team.
• Identify and resolve performance, scalability and security challenges.
• Drive code reviews and quality standards, promoting tools such as SonarQube and Snyk.
• Mentor Junior and Confirmed-level engineers.
• Maintain technical documentation, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and runbooks.
