Job summary

Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch team and help ensure that Elasticsearch core functionalities are fast, secure, and scalable for customers worldwide.

You will contribute to foundational infrastructure, design and implement new APIs, optimize performance and concurrency, and collaborate across teams to deliver reliable cloud, serverless, and on‑premise solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience designing APIs and tradeoffs.
• Proficient in algorithms and data structures.
• Strong Java core knowledge, including concurrency.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to core infrastructure projects for Elasticsearch.
• Identify automation opportunities and integrate applications into workflows.
• Design and implement new scalable APIs and features.
• Address performance and concurrency issues with solutions.
• Improve operation and observability of cloud systems.
• Collaborate with Elastic users and open-source projects.
• Support engineers on difficult problems.
• Own investigations end-to-end until issues are resolved.
