Paymentology is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and scale Java backend services powering our global payments infrastructure. You will lead end-to-end delivery, contribute to technical strategy, and raise the engineering bar across the organisation.

The role involves leading backend services, distributed systems, APIs, mentoring engineers, and participating in on-call rotations within a remote, globally distributed team.

Qualificações

• 5+ years of commercial Java experience with distributed systems
• Experience with event-driven architectures or Domain Driven Design
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Cloud, containers, CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code experience
• Proficiency in test-driven development (TDD) and high-performance systems

Responsabilidades

• Lead the design and development of backend services, distributed systems, and APIs
• Own features end-to-end (architecture, coding, testing, observability, and deployment)
• Write clean, well-tested code, following engineering best practices and TDD
• Break down complex technical work into manageable chunks
• Mentor engineers and participate in on-call rotations
• Participate in incident response and rotations
