Job summary

Pulse Group is hiring a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join a Lisbon engineering team embedded in a London specialty insurance platform transformation. You will design and deliver modern applications using React, TypeScript, C#/.NET and Azure, with ownership from design through production.

The role welcomes frontend-leaning or backend-leaning engineers who enjoy cross-stack work and architectural input.

Qualifications

• Experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core and backend service development.
• Experience building or integrating RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases, ideally SQL Server and EF Core.
• Cloud experience with Azure and CI/CD concepts.
• Strong understanding of application architecture, performance and testing.

• Build responsive, data-rich interfaces focused on usability and performance.

Senior Full Stack Software Engineer (React / TypeScript / C# / .NET)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal | Hybrid (2 days onsite)

The Opportunity

Pulse Group are working exclusively with a leading technology business operating at the heart of the London specialty insurance market, as they continue to invest in their Lisbon engineering team.

Our client operates a business-critical platform supporting approximately 80% of specialty insurance transactions placed in London and is now undertaking a major technology transformation.

They're rebuilding their core platform, moving away from legacy low-code technology towards a modern React, TypeScript, C#/.NET and Azure environment, alongside developing a new data platform to support future products and services.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to help design, build and deliver modern, scalable applications as part of this transformation.

You don't need to be equally strong across frontend and backend development. We're open to engineers who lean more heavily towards either React/TypeScript or C#/.NET, provided you're comfortable working across the stack and keen to develop your expertise further.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a genuine platform rebuild rather than simply maintaining existing systems, with significant ownership and influence over technical decisions, architecture and engineering standards.

• Design, develop and maintain modern applications using React, TypeScript, C# and .NET.
• Build responsive, data-rich user interfaces with a focus on usability, accessibility and performance.
• Develop robust backend services, RESTful APIs and integrations using ASP.NET Core.
• Contribute to frontend and backend architecture, ensuring applications are scalable, maintainable and secure.
• Work with relational databases and complex business workflows.
• Develop and deploy cloud-based applications and services within Microsoft Azure.
• Collaborate with Product, Design and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality software.
• Champion modern engineering practices, including automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD and AI-assisted development.
• Take ownership of features and technical solutions from initial design through to production.

We're looking for an experienced Software Engineer with a strong foundation in either frontend or backend development, alongside exposure to the wider full stack environment.

• Backend: Experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core and backend service development.
• API Development: Experience building or integrating RESTful APIs.
• Databases: Knowledge of SQL and relational databases, ideally SQL Server and Entity Framework Core.
• Cloud: Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms, alongside an understanding of CI/CD.
• Software Engineering: Good understanding of application architecture, scalability, performance and automated testing.
• Technical Ownership: Ability to take responsibility for features and contribute to architectural and engineering decisions.
• Collaboration: Comfortable working across engineering disciplines and contributing to the wider development of the platform.

Experience with Redux Toolkit, Zustand, component libraries, microservices, event-driven architectures or design systems would be advantageous.

We're equally interested in hearing from frontend-leaning engineers with backend experience and backend-leaning engineers with frontend experience. You don't need to tick every box, but should be confident in your core discipline and enthusiastic about working across the full stack.
