Job summary

Alongside is seeking a Senior Flutter Engineer to join an international project delivering a scalable mobile app for accounting professionals across Europe. You will design, develop, and own features using Flutter (iOS and Android), collaborate across Portugal, the Netherlands, and India, and apply AI-assisted coding and Spec-Driven development.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including Flutter
• Strong Flutter/Dart knowledge targeting iOS and Android
• Solid Riverpod/state management experience
• Experience with AI coding tools (e.g., Copilot)
• Familiarity with Spec-Driven Development (OpenSpec or similar)
• Experience with automated tests (unit/widget/integration)
• Good understanding of OOP, SOLID, REST APIs
• Fluent English, written and spoken

We’re looking for a Senior Flutter Engineer to join an exciting international project within a global technology company. You’ll contribute to the development and evolution of a mobile application used by accounting professionals across Europe, working alongside international teams based in Portugal, the Netherlands, and India.

This is a hands‑on engineering role where Flutter development, software architecture, and AI-assisted coding come together to build scalable, high-quality mobile solutions.

Responsabilities:

• Design, develop, and deliver new features for mobile applications using Flutter (iOS and Android).
• Take ownership of features throughout the development lifecycle, from specification to production.
• Work with AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to accelerate development while ensuring code quality.
• Apply Spec-Driven Development practices using tools such as OpenSpec or similar.
• Contribute to application architecture and state management using Riverpod.
• Develop and maintain automated tests, including unit, widget, and integration tests.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and mobile application release processes.
• Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve application performance.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Backend teams in an international environment.
• Share technical knowledge and support other engineers through mentoring and code reviews.

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, including at least 3 years working with Flutter.
• Strong experience developing and maintaining mobile applications published on the App Store and Google Play.
• Solid knowledge of Flutter, Dart, and state management, preferably Riverpod (BLoC or Provider experience is also valued).
• Hands‑on experience using AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar.
• Familiarity with Spec-Driven Development approaches and tools such as OpenSpec or GitHub Spec Kit.
• Experience with automated testing (unit, widget, and integration tests).
• Good understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, design patterns, and REST APIs.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.

• 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension depending on project needs (not guaranteed).
• Hybrid working model, with 2 mandatory office days per week in Boavista, Porto.
