Job summary

Intermedia seeks a proactive Senior DevOps Engineer (Voice) to design, deploy, and operate Linux-based infrastructure at scale. You’ll automate tasks, build CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate across a multinational team.

The role is primarily remote with occasional visits to Coimbra or Aveiro, with Porto offices planned for the future to foster collaboration and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering or a related field.
• Strong understanding of Linux OS and command line.
• Experience with Chef or other configuration management tools.
• Ability to design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Github Actions, and Jenkins.
• Solid understanding of networking principles (DNS, TCP/UDP, firewalls, load balancers).
• Foundational understanding of security best practices.
• Proficiency with scripting languages like Bash, Ruby, Python, or Go.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with devops and development teams to deploy and maintain infrastructure.
• Develop and support tooling to streamline deployment and maintenance of products.
• Deploy applications from development to production with GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
• Support in-house and third-party applications, including deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Build and manage automation pipelines for deployment and maintenance.
• Manage Linux servers via the command line and monitor with Grafana/Prometheus planned.
• Document processes and best practices clearly.

About the Role: We are looking for a proactive and eager Senior DevOps Engineer with experience in building, maintaining, and operating Linux based infrastructure at scale. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for automation and efficiency and thrives in a collaborative multi-national environment.

While primarily remote, this role requires occasional visits to the office in Coimbra or in Aveiro. We plan to open offices in Porto in the future. This approach gives team members the flexibility to work remotely while also coming together in the office for collaboration and teamwork.

What you will be doing:

• Collaborate closely with fellow devops engineers and the development team to deploy and maintain application infrastructure.
• Assist in the development and support of tooling to streamline the deployment and maintenance of our products.
• Work with Github, Jenkins, and Chef to deploy applications from development through to production environments.
• Support both in-house and third-party applications, including handling deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Build and manage automation pipelines for application deployment and maintenance.
• Engage in the day-to‑day management of Linux servers via the command line
• Create monitoring dashboards and alerts in Grafana leveraging Prometheus and Alertmanager.
• Document processes and best practices clearly and concisely.
• Participate in incident solving on-call rotation.

What you will bring to the role:

• 4+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering or a related field.
• Strong understanding of the Linux operating system and comfort working at the command line.
• Experience with using Chef or other configuration management tools to automate the creation and maintenance of servers and applications.
• Ability to design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Github Actions, and Jenkins.
• Solid understanding of networking principles, including DNS, TCP/UDP, firewalls, and load balancers.
• A willingness to dive into both complex systems and more routine tasks, ensuring that everything runs smoothly.
• A foundational understanding of security best practices.
• Proficiency with scripting languages like Bash, Ruby, Python, or Go.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Kubernetes and Helm templating.
• Experience with real-time voice/video protocols like SIP and RTP.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS.
• Previous experience with tools such as Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ, MySQL, and Ansible.
• Experience working with globally distributed and remote teams.
