DataSmart is seeking a Senior DevOps / ELK Engineer to join our team in Lisbon on a hybrid schedule. You will design, implement, and maintain the Elastic Stack stack (Beats, Elastic Agents, Logstash, Elasticsearch, Kibana) and advance observability across mainframe, open systems, and container platforms.

You will collaborate with development, architecture, and operations to integrate observability into applications and CI/CD, lead incident resolution, and mentor junior team members.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
• 5+ years of hands-on IT experience, especially observability and production support.
• Experience with Agile delivery methodologies.
• Experience with incident and release management.
• Strong cross-team coordination and communication skills.
• Proficient Linux and Windows fundamentals.
• Hands-on Elastic Stack experience: Beats, Elastic Agents, Logstash, Elasticsearch, Kibana, OpenTelemetry.
• Knowledge of logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, alerts.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and automation tools (Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins, UCD, Ansible).
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.

• Optimize performance, data retention, and secure access controls.
• Collaborate with Dev, Architecture, and Ops teams to embed observability in CI/CD.
• Establish best practices, governance, and mentoring.
• Gather requirements, estimate effort, and report progress to Product Owners.
• Lead production troubleshooting and incident resolution.
• Contribute to governance of continuous delivery.

Join our team as a Senior DevOps / ELK Engineer (Hybrid - Lisbon)!

What You’ll Do:

• Design, build, maintain, support, and extend the Elastic Stack, including Beats, Elastic Agents, Logstash, Elasticsearch, Kibana, and OpenTelemetry.
• Drive observability practices and design monitoring solutions for applications running across mainframe, open systems, and container platforms.
• Optimize platform performance, indexing, log retention, data lifecycle management, and secure access controls.
• Collaborate with development, architecture, and operations teams to integrate observability into applications and CI/CD processes.
• Establish observability best practices, governance, coding standards, and technical guidelines, while coaching and mentoring team members.
• Gather requirements, estimate effort, define value-driven roadmaps, and report progress to Product Owners and management.
• Lead production troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and critical P1/P2 incident resolution, supporting incident management and production releases.
• Contribute to continuous delivery governance and ensure adherence to operational and delivery standards.

Qualifications:

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a comparable technical field.
• 5+ years of hands‑on IT experience, particularly in observability and production support.
• Proven experience working with Agile delivery methodologies.
• Experience with incident management, release management, and production support.
• Strong skills in cross-team coordination, stakeholder communication, and effort estimation.
• Solid knowledge of Linux and Windows fundamentals, including: Processes and file systems, Shell environments, Key operating system metrics.
• Strong hands‑on experience with the Elastic Stack: Beats, Elastic Agents, Logstash, Elasticsearch, Kibana, OpenTelemetry standards.
• Strong understanding of observability concepts: Logs, metrics, and traces, Golden signals, Log analysis, Dashboard creation, Alert configuration.
• Experience with CI/CD and automation tools, such as: Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins, UrbanCode Deploy (UCD), Ansible, Automated testing frameworks.
• Knowledge of container and cloud technologies: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Understanding of REST APIs and system integration.
• Basic knowledge of security controls, including: Authentication, Role‑Based Access Control (RBAC), Access management, Audit and compliance requirements.
• Elasticsearch certification and Microsoft Azure knowledge are strong advantages.
• Familiarity with productivity and IT service management tools: Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, Microsoft Office.
• Strong collaboration, communication, coaching, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proactive mindset, strong ownership, and structured problem‑solving abilities.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with observability technologies.
• Willingness and availability to provide on‑call support and perform scheduled overtime when required.
• English proficiency at a professional level (minimum C1).
• Living in Portugal and available to work in a hybrid model in Lisbon.
