SIXT is seeking a Senior Data Scientist in Lisbon to shape fleet strategies via optimization and machine learning. You will design advanced planning systems that influence purchasing, pricing, and financial projections, ensuring the right cars at the right locations.

You will translate complex problems into actionable models, explain the rationale to stakeholders, and mentor teammates. A hybrid work model and international environment await.

Qualificações

• Master's degree or higher in a quantitative field.
• Strong background in mathematical optimization and programming.
• Hands-on experience in dynamic pricing or stock planning optimization.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis, modeling, and production deployment.
• Understanding of ML techniques and model evaluation.
• Ability to explain results and communicate with stakeholders.

Our long-term fleet planning decisions directly drive revenue management, purchasing, and pricing across the business — and ensure we have the right cars in the right places to deliver the best experience for every customer.

We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist – Operations Research with a strong background in mathematical optimization and machine learning — someone with both a solid theoretical foundation and a proven track record of applying these methods in practice. Ideally, you also bring revenue management expertise, for example hands-on experience in dynamic pricing or stock planning optimization.

YOUR ROLE AT SIXT

• You design, develop, and deploy advanced fleet planning systems that support all parts of the business, from purchasing decisions to pricing to financial projections
• You formulate and solve complex optimization problems, including linear, nonlinear, dynamic, and stochastic, to maximize margin and support key decision making processes
• Your planning decisions affect stakeholders across the business, and explaining the why behind the results is just as important as the results themselves
• You build models that capture the real world complexity of renting cars, from how pricing decisions are made to how cars are allocated to customers
• You stay current on the latest research in revenue management, operations research, and machine learning, and bring new ideas into the team
• You provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members

YOUR SKILLS MATTER

• Optimization & Solvers You bring a strong background in mathematical optimization, including linear, nonlinear, and integer programming, solvers, and algorithm design such as dynamic and stochastic programming
• Education You hold a Master's degree or higher in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
• Machine Learning You have a solid understanding of supervised and unsupervised ML techniques, model evaluation, and how to take a model from experimentation to a reliable, maintainable production system
• Programming Skills You bring expertise in Python for data analysis, modeling, and production deployment
• AI Proficiency You use AI tools to accelerate development and analysis, stay up to date with the latest developments, and actively drive adoption across the team
• Analytical Mindset You translate complex problems into actionable models and analyses, and communicate findings clearly to different audiences
• Revenue Management Expertise (Plus) You have experience implementing or optimizing revenue management or stock optimization systems
