Wire IT, based in Portugal, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a hybrid team in Lisbon or Porto. You will design and implement cloud-based data platforms, orchestrate data migrations, and optimize data pipelines using BigQuery and Cloud Composer.

• Strong focus on cloud-based data platforms and migration projects.
• BigQuery schema design, complex SQL queries, performance optimization, and cost management.
• Cloud Composer for DAGs orchestration in migration and integration scenarios.
• Excellent SQL; SQL Server experience a plus.
• Python for data migration, automation, transformation, and GCP API interactions.
• Experience migrating databases from on-prem SQL Server to GCP.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for designing and debugging GCP-based solutions.
• Good communication skills in English (B2 level).

Role:Senior Data Engineer

Location: Hybrid, Lisbon OR Porto, Portugal

Required skills:

• 6–9 years of professional experience in Data Engineering, with a strong focus on cloud-based data platforms and migration projects.


• Significant experience with BigQuery, including schema design, complex SQL queries, performance optimization, and cloud cost management.


• Solid experience with Cloud Composer, including creating, scheduling, monitoring, and debugging DAGs to orchestrate data flows, particularly in migration and integration scenarios.


• Excellent command of SQL, with the ability to adapt and optimize queries for BigQuery. Experience with SQL Server is a plus.


• In-depth knowledge of Python for developing scripts for data migration, automation, and transformation, as well as interacting with GCP APIs.


• Strong experience or understanding of data migration, particularly migrating databases from on-premises SQL Server environments to GCP.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess existing systems, understand business requirements, design GCP-based solutions, and troubleshoot complex migration and data pipeline challenges.


• Good communication skills in English (B2 level required).
