Job summary

Axians Portugal is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a leading international banking environment. You will design and implement data architectures, develop high-performance data pipelines, and support BI solutions for Risk Reporting & Analytics.

You will collaborate with Risk, Finance, and IT teams, mentor juniors, participate in Agile ceremonies, and contribute to CI/CD, data models, and documentation, while leveraging Dataiku, SQL, Python, and PySpark.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of professional Data Engineer experience.
• Experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Alteryx or Talend.
• Hands-on SQL, Python and/or PySpark, plus Apache NiFi.
• Dataiku knowledge is highly valued; SAS/Power BI/Tableau a plus.

SENIOR DATA ENGINEER

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a leading international banking environment and contribute to the development of innovative data solutions supporting Risk Reporting & Analytics activities. You will play a key role in designing and implementing data architectures, developing high-performance data pipelines, and supporting business users in the evolution of Business Intelligence solutions. Working closely with Risk, Finance, and IT teams, you will contribute to the delivery of reliable, scalable, and data-driven solutions that support critical business decisions.

What You Will Do On a Daily Basis

• Design and develop high-performance ETL/ELT data pipelines to feed Data Warehouses according to business requirements.
• Build and maintain scalable data integration solutions using modern data engineering practices.
• Implement flow automation through CI/CD pipelines and support the end-to-end deployment of solutions across environments.
• Design and optimize data models, schemas, and architectures following Business Intelligence best practices.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to understand requirements and translate them into efficient data solutions.
• Support and guide end users in the use of Dataiku while promoting data engineering best practices.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve data workflows to ensure reliability, quality, and performance.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of Risk Reporting & Analytics platforms and services.
• Provide technical expertise and recommendations regarding data architecture and engineering standards.
• Mentor junior team members and share knowledge with stakeholders across the organization.
• Contribute to Agile ceremonies and project delivery activities.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge repositories.

Your Key Skills

• Strong experience in Data Engineering and Data Integration projects.
• Solid knowledge of ETL and/or ELT processes.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, Python and/or PySpark.

Your Main Qualifications

• Between 5 and 7 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer.
• Strong experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Alteryx, Talend, or similar solutions.
• Proven experience designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and data architectures.
• Hands-on experience with SQL, Python and/or PySpark, and Apache Nifi.
• Knowledge of Dataiku is highly valued.
• Knowledge of SAS, Power BI, and Tableau is considered a plus.
• Experience working with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA is considered a plus.
• Fluency in English.
• French and/or Portuguese knowledge is considered a plus.
