Upwork Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Platform Operations and Network Engineer to operate and improve cloud and network infrastructure connecting Upwork’s engineers and services.

The role focuses on traditional cloud infra while unifying operations with Kubernetes-based runtime infrastructure. You will collaborate across Platform Operations, Reliability, and Security to deliver safer changes and faster recovery.

Competenze

• Deep experience operating production infrastructure across multiple cloud providers and accounts.
• Advanced Terraform expertise including modules, drift remediation, and policy controls.
• Strong knowledge of Linux systems, lifecycle management, patching, backup and capacity planning.
• Hands-on Kubernetes and Amazon EKS at scale, including cluster lifecycle, autoscaling, ingress, and observability.

Mansioni

• Operate shared Cloud infra with focus on availability, security, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Manage infrastructure lifecycle: provisioning, patches, upgrades, backups, recovery, decommissioning.
• Build reusable infrastructure using Terraform; improve module quality and drift management.
• Use Chef or Ansible to maintain consistent systems and reduce manual work.
• Improve reliability through monitoring, runbooks, and validated recovery procedures.
• Lead on-call rotations, incident response, and preventative controls.
