Job summary

Komodo Consulting is seeking a Senior Cloud & Data Platform Engineer to work on a tech project. You will design, implement, and operate Azure-based cloud platforms and data services, aligning with FinOps and SRE practices. Hybrid work model with 2 days in the office.

The role emphasizes Terraform/Bicep IaC, Azure Databricks, Airflow, and cost optimisation, delivering reliable platforms and documentation for stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Cloud/Platform Engineering in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on Azure Platform Engineering with standardization and platform evolution.
• Experience administering Azure services and Databricks.
• Proficiency with Terraform and/or Bicep for IaC.
• Experience with Azure Monitor for diagnostics, alerts and troubleshooting.
• FinOps practices and cloud cost optimization.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; proficiency in Portuguese and English.

The Project

We are seeking a Senior Cloud & Data Platform Engineer to work on a tech project.

You will have the following responsibilities

• Implement, administrate, and evolve cloud and data platforms, with a focus on the Microsoft Azure ecosystem;
• Ensure the reliability, stability, and operational efficiency of platforms, including incident management and root cause analysis;
• Design and implement Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform and/or Bicep;
• Develop automations for provisioning, configuration, and operational tasks;
• Configure and maintain monitoring, alerting, and diagnostics using Azure Monitor;
• Track, control, and optimize cloud costs following FinOps practices;
• Define technical standards, operational procedures, and supporting documentation;
• Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders, contributing to continuous service improvement.

You need to have the following skills/experience

• Proven experience in Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or similar roles in complex enterprise environments;
• Hands-on experience with Azure Platform Engineering, including implementation, standardization, and platform evolution;
• Solid experience in Microsoft Azure administration and operational management of its services;
• Proven experience in Azure Databricks administration;
• Experience in administrating Astronomer or Apache Airflow platforms;
• Experience implementing and managing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or Bicep;
• Experience with Azure Monitor, including monitoring configuration, alerting, and troubleshooting;
• Experience in Cloud Operations and operational support, including incident management and resolution;
• Hands-on experience with FinOps practices, including cloud cost tracking, control, and optimization;
• Strong structured troubleshooting skills, with the ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective measures;
• Ability to define technical standards, operational procedures, and documentation;
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical teams and stakeholders;
• Proficiency in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken, including technical documentation;
• Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, Dynatrace, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Purview, and/or Kubernetes is a plus.

Location

Lisbon / Porto (Hybrid - 2 days per week at the office).
