Job summary

Cloudflare in Lisbon is seeking a skilled Browser Isolation engineer to help build and secure the next generation of remote browsing services. You will work on Chromium-based components, distributed systems, and security-focused functionality across C++, Rust, Go, and TypeScript.

You will contribute to architectural decisions, improve latency and reliability, and collaborate with a global team. A strong production background and passion for a scalable Internet are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong production C++ proficiency with memory, concurrency, and debugging in large codebases.
• Track record leading complex systems or distributed-service improvements across multiple components.
• Strong Linux/UNIX and networking fundamentals, with profiling for latency and resource issues.
• Experience designing safe rollout and recovery strategies and maintaining production software.
• Willingness to work across C++, Rust, Go, and TypeScript and learn unfamiliar parts of the stack.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, multi-component initiatives from problem definition through design and rollout.
• Design and implement changes in our Chromium-based browser and distributed services in Go, Rust, and TypeScript.
• Explain architectural trade-offs across latency, availability, and security boundaries.
• Investigate cross-layer failures and performance bottlenecks across browser, host, network, and control-plane.
• Improve resilience, observability, and release safety; define success metrics and validate results.
• Coordinate work with partner teams, surface dependencies and risks early, and guide delivery through ambiguity.
• Mentor engineers and raise the quality of code reviews, design reviews, testing, and documentation.
• Participate in on-call rotation after onboarding and drive durable corrective actions.
