Job summary

Capgemini Engineering is seeking a senior modelling lead to drive data harmonization, governance and FAIR data product strategy across biomedical datasets. You will translate ambiguous requirements into canonical models, document ontology decisions, and define identifiers and provenance standards.

The role involves collaboration with biology SMEs, data engineers and platform teams, mentoring junior modelers, and ensuring robust schema governance in GitHub-based workflows.

Qualifications

• MSc/PhD in biology or related field.
• 6+ years in scientific/biomedical data modelling with senior ownership.
• Experience with LinkML or equivalent schema framework.
• Strong data harmonization, provenance and FAIR principles knowledge.
• Experience managing schema lifecycle with GitHub.
• Proficient in Python and SQL for validation and exploration.
• Fluent English; Portuguese fluency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead modelling strategy for data harmonization, validation and FAIR data products.
• Translate requirements into conceptual, logical and canonical data models.
• Model genes, diseases, pathways, tissues, assays and evidence relationships.
• Decide ontology reuse, extension and mappings with documented rationale.
• Define persistent identifiers and provenance fields across assets.
• Drive schema reviews, versioning and releases with changelogs.
• Define validation rules and data quality checks for provenance and semantics.
• Identify risks and mitigation for data lineage and quality.
• Design modular, reusable models aligned to enterprise standards.
• Collaborate with SMEs, data engineers, product managers and platform teams.
• Mentor junior and mid-level modelers.
