payabl. is expanding its Core Gateway team and seeks a Senior Backend Developer to own both legacy Perl maintenance and new Python microservices. You will build high-performance backends, refactor legacy code, and design scalable APIs while collaborating with a global team in English.

You will work with AWS, Docker, and GitLab in a fast-paced, remote role, contributing to a modern payments infrastructure and continuous improvement across the platform.

Qualificações

• 5+ years backend engineering experience with strong Python mastery (AsyncIO & FastAPI preferred)
• Experience with Perl production code and polyglot refactoring
• Solid API integration experience with webhooks, callbacks, and retry policies
• CI/CD pipelines, Docker containerization, and familiarity with AWS services
• Exposure to event-driven architectures (Kafka, queues)
• Strong English communication and product-minded thinking

Responsabilidades

• Dual-track maintenance: support and extend the Perl gateway while migration progresses
• Design, develop, and maintain Python microservices for high performance and scalability
• Integrate third-party APIs and external payment services across legacy and modern layers
• Collaborate in Agile teams with clear English communication across departments
• Participate in code reviews and uphold high code quality standards
• Work with DevOps on CI/CD, containers, and cloud deployments
