Ebury in Porto is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Money Flows) to own development of our multi-currency account systems, incoming funds, and outgoing payment processes. You will join a global team across Europe and South America and shape the next level of our high-volume transactional platform.

We value craftsmanship over specific languages and expect leadership in design, testing, and production health, with a strong focus on reliability, observability, and scalable architectures.

Qualificações

• Core software engineering experience designing and maintaining complex, highly available systems.
• Hands-on payments, fintech, or banking domain experience and understanding of transactional systems.
• Proficiency in at least one major backend language and distributed architectures.
• Experience with APIs, external system integration, monitoring, and alerting.
• Clear, concise English communication for technical and business stakeholders.

Senior Software Engineer (Money Flows)

About the Role

The Engineering team at Ebury is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to play a pivotal role in evolving our core transactional platform. As a key member of our global team (spanning Europe and South America), you will own the development, scalability, and optimization of our multi-currency account systems, incoming funds, and outgoing payment processes.

This is a critical role designed to take our high-volume transactional platform to the next level, delivering a seamless payment experience for both our global clients and internal operational teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect & Deliver: Lead the design and development of the next iteration of our global platform, streamlining complex cross-border payments and international fund collections.

• Domain Ownership: Take full accountability for the services you build under our "You build it, you own it" philosophy — e mbracing everything from initial system design to deployment and production health.

• Technical Leadership: Lead product initiatives end-to-end, working closely with Product and Operations stakeholders to translate complex financial business requirements into elegant technical solutions.

• Mentor & Coach: Guide and mentor less experienced engineers, fostering a culture of high engineering standards, thorough code reviews, and continuous learning.

• Collaborate Globally: Partner with engineering leaders and distributed teams across different regions to design robust, modular services and components.

About You

• Core Software Engineering Expertise: You have a proven track record of designing, building, and maintaining complex, highly available software systems at scale. You care deeply about clean code, design patterns, and testability (unit/integration testing).

• Payments Domain Experience: You have solid, hands-on experience working within the payments, fintech, or banking space. You understand the unique challenges of transactional consistency, ledger systems, multi-currency handling, or external financial integrations.

• Tech-Agnostic Mindset: You are proficient in at least one major backend language and are excited about choosing the right tool for the job. You have strong experience with distributed architectures, asynchronous messaging, and relational databases.

• Production & Observability Focus: You don't just write code; you know how to run it. You have experience building standard APIs, integrating external systems, and setting up robust monitoring and alerting.

• Communication & Collaboration: You can communicate complex technical ideas clearly and concisely in English (both written and spoken) to both technical peers and non-technical business stakeholders.
