Job summary

Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a backend-focused engineer to join the Observability Streams program. You will help build high-performing ingestion pipelines for telemetry data and develop scalable backend solutions across cloud providers, ensuring reliable data routing to Kibana and other destinations.

You will own projects end-to-end, mentor peers, and contribute to reliability through SLIs/SLOs while collaborating with a globally distributed team.

Qualifications

• Go programming skills with strong debugging and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, IaC (Terraform) and Kafka.
• Experience with Observability (tracing, metrics, logs, profiling).
• Understanding of microservice architecture and distributed systems.
• Ability to work independently in a globally distributed team.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, deploy and maintain high-performing, scalable features within the different products (Managed Inputs and Managed Integrations).
• Take ownership of projects and features from concept to delivery.
• Provide engineering level support to escalated customer cases.
• Provide mentorship and feedback to peers through pull request reviews, ensuring code quality.
• Monitor alerts, build SLIs and SLOs and ensure system stability.
• Cultivate a positive, inclusive, collaborative team culture across timezones.
• On-call for services (12h/day/week every 8-10 weeks).
