Lever, Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer - Payments & Fintech based in Portugal to rebuild and scale the financial systems at the heart of a rapidly growing global platform.

You will own the canonical payments, subscriptions, billing, and entitlement platform from the ground up, working with Finance, Operations, and leadership to ensure accuracy and traceability. You will lead migrations from legacy systems, design an append-only ledger, and build cross-gateway revenue workflows while

Qualificações

• 6–10 years of backend engineering experience in Go or similar languages.
• Deep expertise in relational databases and SQL.
• Experience rebuilding payment, subscription, billing, and ledger systems end-to-end.
• Knowledge of multi-currency and international billing and tax frameworks.
• Familiarity with frontend tech (TypeScript/React) for customer-facing billing.

Responsabilidades

• Design and implement a canonical billing and entitlement ledger using an append-only architecture.
• Own the complete subscription lifecycle and billing workflows across gateways.
• Build gateway ingestion pipelines with idempotent webhook processing and reconciliations.
• Handle refunds, chargebacks, disputes, and revenue allocations with accuracy.
• Lead migrations from legacy systems with data backfills and controlled cutovers.
• Ensure financial correctness, auditability, and observability in a high-scale system.
