SGI in Lisbon, Portugal seeks a Senior AI Platform Engineer to scale an AI-native enterprise platform. You will operate production ML systems, design deployment pipelines and drive observability across models, inference services and AI agents.

The role emphasizes automation, reliability and collaboration with ML, Platform and Data teams to deliver secure, scalable production solutions.

Qualificações

• Expertise operating production ML or AI platforms.
• Strong software engineering background with automation focus.
• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure, containers and distributed systems.
• Deep knowledge of CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and release automation.
• Strong observability, monitoring, logging, metrics and tracing skills.
• Understanding of the ML/AI lifecycle and production evaluation.
• Experience collaborating with ML, Platform, Data and Product teams.
• Strong problem-solving for reliability and scalable platforms.
• Ability to automate complex environments and build reusable capabilities.

Responsabilidades

• Design and build platform capabilities for deploying and operating production AI systems.
• Develop automated pipelines for model deployment, packaging, versioning, testing, rollout and rollback.
• Build evaluation frameworks covering model quality, retrieval performance, latency, cost and business outcomes.
• Implement observability across models, inference services, retrieval pipelines and AI agents.
• Partner with ML Engineers to productionise models and improve deployment reliability.
• Work with Platform Engineering on infrastructure, scaling, security and resilience.
• Support A/B testing, canary releases and progressive deployments.
• Implement governance around reproducibility, versioning, auditability and compliance.
• Automate operational processes and improve engineering productivity.
• Contribute to modern agentic AI development and delivery practices.

We are looking for a Senior AI Platform Engineer to help build and scale an AI-native enterprise platform where machine learning models, retrieval systems, AI agents, and intelligent applications operate as reliable production services.

This is a hands‑on senior engineering role focused on taking AI from experimentation into scalable, secure, observable, and production‑ready systems.

What you’ll do

• Design and build platform capabilities for deploying and operating production AI systems
• Develop automated pipelines for model deployment, packaging, versioning, testing, rollout and rollback
• Build evaluation frameworks covering model quality, retrieval performance, latency, cost and business outcomes
• Implement observability across models, inference services, retrieval pipelines and AI agents

What we’re looking for

• Strong experience operating production ML or AI platforms

• Strong knowledge of observability, monitoring, logging, metrics and tracing
• Understanding of the ML/AI lifecycle, deployment strategies and production evaluation
• Experience working across ML, Platform, Data and Product Engineering teams
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on reliability and operational excellence
• Ability to simplify complex environments through automation and reusable platform capabilities
