Job summary

Bain & Company, Inc. is seeking an AI Engineer in the AIS team to design, build, and deploy generative AI systems for client projects. You will work with Bain consultants, engineers, and data scientists, moving solutions from prototype to production adoption.

This hands-on role offers mentoring opportunities, collaboration across disciplines, and exposure to the latest AI tooling and ethical standards in enterprise settings. Significant in-person collaboration is required.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in software engineering, ML engineering, or applied AI roles with hands-on building responsibilities.
• Demonstrated experience shipping generative AI features or systems end-to-end.
• Clear communication across engineering, product, and data science teams; mentoring peers a plus.
• Strong prompt engineering and context engineering skills; familiarity with conversation design.
• Experience with evaluation design, experimentation frameworks, and data labeling for LLMs.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, development, and deployment of end-to-end generative AI systems, including multi-agent workflows.
• Build and iterate on multi-component AI pipelines (RAG, embedding, tuning, hybrid strategies).
• Implement reasoning, tool use, function calling, and orchestration across AI workflows.
• Build and contribute to agentic systems with proper memory management and tool integration.
• Design and maintain APIs, microservices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native deployments.
