About the Role:
We are looking for a Roku Developer to join the Ovyo team on a short-term contract and to work 100% remotely. We are looking for immediate starters that we can build a long lasting business relationship with for future projects too.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Roku channels using BrightScript
- Implement smooth video playback with HLS/DASH, DRM (Widevine, PlayReady), and adaptive streaming across all Roku device generations.
- Integrate third-party services including advertising (RAF, DAI), analytics (Conviva, Nielsen), authentication, and content APIs.
- Optimize performance, memory usage, and app load times while ensuring compliance with Roku certification requirements.
- Collaborate with product, design, backend, and QA teams in an Agile environment; debug issues, write tests, and support production releases and hotfixes.
Required Experience:
- At least 4 years of Roku Development experience with strong proficiency in Brightscript
- Thorough understanding of the SceneGraph framework and its core principles
- Familiarity with Design Patterns such as MVC and MVVM
- Experience integrating with third party libraries like Analytics, Advertising etc.
- Practice of Unit Testing
- Experience with build, submission, and certification process of Roku applications
- Familiarity with code versioning tools such as Git and build automation systems
- Video-based app development
- Ideally also exposure to RALE, RAF, IAP (but not a dealbreaker)
