JobCubby is seeking an Ubuntu Security Engineer based in Portugal to join a globally distributed security team. You will investigate vulnerabilities across the Ubuntu ecosystem, develop fixes, and contribute to open source security initiatives.

Qualificações

• Strong understanding of software security vulnerabilities and attack techniques.
• Familiarity with coordinated vulnerability disclosure practices.
• Experience with open source development tools, workflows, and methodologies.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, Python, Go, Rust, or JavaScript.
• Experience with Linux, preferably Ubuntu or Debian-based environments.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities.
• Clear communication for explaining security issues to engineers and contributors.
• Excellent collaboration across cultures and distributed teams.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn about emerging security threats.

Responsabilidades

• Analyse, investigate, fix, and test vulnerabilities in Ubuntu ecosystem.
• Monitor and track vulnerabilities using internal security tools and processes.
• Collaborate with internal teams and open source communities on security patches.
• Audit source code to identify weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
• Assess risks and help prioritise remediation efforts by impact and urgency.
• Design and develop features, automation, and internal security tooling.
• Document findings and remediation activities clearly.
• Contribute to security initiatives across the open source ecosystem.
• Work effectively in a globally distributed team with autonomy.
