Easyship is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a backend-focused squad. You will remain hands-on with Ruby on Rails while coaching other engineers and shaping architecture for a growing monolith and emerging microservices.

You’ll collaborate with product and engineering leadership to convert roadmaps into actionable technical plans. The role is full-time and fully remote within the EU, with a strong emphasis on architecture, code quality, and adoption of AI-assisted development.

Qualificações

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with 2-3 years in engineering management or technical lead capacity.
• Hands-on with Ruby on Rails; not a distant management role.
• Strong architecture experience designing and evolving backend systems at scale.
• Experience working with a large Rails monolith and evolving it sustainably.
• Exposure to agentic AI or LLM tooling.
• Strong async communicator capable of coordinating distributed EU/India timezones.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and mentor a backend-focused squad; drive technical quality, delivery velocity, and team wellbeing.
• Stay hands-on with Ruby on Rails; contribute to architecture decisions, code reviews, and feature development.
• Own the technical architecture of your squad's domain across Rails monolith and evolving microservices.
• Translate roadmap priorities into clear technical plans with realistic timelines.
• Champion engineering best practices: testing, observability, security, clean code.
• Identify and introduce AI-augmented workflows to accelerate delivery and reduce toil.
• Drive continuous improvement; run retrospectives and unblock the team.
• Collaborate with other EMs and the Head of Engineering to improve processes across the organization.
