Sportingtech is seeking a Data Engineer Team Lead to oversee data development lifecycle, steward the data platform, and mentor a growing team. You will coordinate with Sportsbook, Casino and Payments teams while delivering reliable data for regulatory reporting and BI consumption.

The role emphasizes designing next-gen Data Lake architectures, maintaining ETL pipelines and promoting observability. Strong English and Scala proficiency required; remote work available from Portugal.

Qualificações

• Excellent level of English, written and verbal.
• Experience with open-source data technologies (Spark, Hadoop, HBase, Hive, Kafka, Storm).
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL and data warehouse design.
• Experience with version control systems (GitLab/Git).
• Strong OO design and development skills (Scala).
• Unix/Linux and shell scripting proficiency.
• Experience managing data pipelines in production with monitoring and incident response.
• Proactive, results-driven and able to mentor engineers.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of database paradigms - columnar, distributed, and row-based.

Responsabilidades

• Lead the data development lifecycle and team activities.
• Maintain and evolve the Data Platform (Spark ETL, Kafka, PostgreSQL).
• Design next-gen Data Lake / event-driven Data Warehouse architecture.
• Ensure data quality and regulatory reporting reliability.
• Develop reports and dashboards (Power BI) with BI team.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sportsbook, Casino, Payments).
• Mentor and grow Data Engineers and BI professionals.
