Job summary

Bosch Portugal is seeking a System Function Responsible for Safety to own safety-critical topics in our automotive radar platform. You will coordinate hardware/software safety, analyze SoC concepts, and translate constraints into software requirements across engineering teams.

The role emphasizes long-term development, safety analyses, and proactive risk mitigation within a hybrid work environment. Strong English skills are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Strong software background with solid understanding of embedded systems, system requirements, software/platform architecture and hardware/software interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for safety-related system function topics within Bosch radar platforms, with a strong focus on SoC, hardware/software interaction and sensor availability.
• Understand and assess safety concepts for SoCs, including SoC management, monitoring, reset behavior, boot behavior and safety mechanism relevance for radar use cases.
• Act as a technical counterpart for hardware/software safety topics, supporting the clarification of whether observed behavior represents a functional safety issue or an expected system limitation.
• Coordinate safety-related development activities triggered by hardware or SoC changes, such as new radar processing platform variants, updated PHY/interface configurations or customer-specific hardware enablement.
• Contribute to Technical Safety Concept discussions by translating system and hardware constraints into clear software and platform requirements.
• Evaluate the need, applicability and impact of safety mechanisms in the radar context, including cases where mechanisms may need to be adapted, removed or justified as not required for a specific use case.
• Drive alignment with software platform teams and relevant stakeholders to ensure safety requirements, assumptions and constraints are understood, tracked and implemented consistently.
• Support requirements engineering, impact analysis, change management and risk assessment for safety-relevant system function topics throughout the development lifecycle.
• Provide transparency on status, dependencies, risks and mitigation actions, ensuring proactive communication across engineering teams and stakeholders.
