Zusammenfassung

ALTEN in Porto is seeking a QA Engineer to join the Group IT QA team, validating web apps and APIs, and driving automated testing and AI-assisted quality practices across Europe. You will work with cross-functional teams and contribute to CI/CD quality gates in an international setting.

This role requires 4+ years in software QA, strong English, and hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium or Cypress, Git, CI/CD and Azure DevOps in an agile environment.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years in Software Quality Assurance.
• Professional level of English mandatory.
• Experience with automated testing tools such as Playwright, Selenium or Cypress.
• Experience testing web applications and REST APIs.

• Knowledge of a programming language for test automation (Java preferred).
• Experience with bug tracking and test management tools.

To support our European intensive growth, the Group has decided to build a Center based in Porto with the aim of providing administrative, financial and IT support to the European subsidiaries.

In this context, we are looking for a skilled QA Engineer to join the Group IT (DSI) department and strengthen our transversal QA team. The team supports several strategic business applications used by tens of thousands of users across the Group, covering modern technologies such as Java/Spring Boot, Angular, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, Azure DevOps, WordPress and AI-powered solutions.

Working closely with the QA Lead, Developers, Product stakeholders and international teams, you will play a key role in ensuring software quality through exploratory and automated testing, helping deliver reliable and scalable digital solutions. AI-assisted testing and quality engineering practices are an integral part of our delivery model.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Assurance & Testing

• Review requirements and participate in refinement sessions to ensure testability and quality from the early stages;
• Design, execute and maintain manual and automated test scenarios for web applications and APIs;
• Perform exploratory, regression and end-to-end testing activities.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Develop and maintain automated test suites to improve regression coverage and delivery confidence;
• Contribute to reliable CI/CD quality gates and testing best practices;
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across QA processes and methodologies.

Defect Management

• Identify, document and validate defects with clear and actionable reporting;
• Work closely with development teams to troubleshoot issues and verify fixes;
• Help distinguish product defects from environment or automation-related issues.

AI-Driven Quality Engineering

• Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate test design, automation and defect analysis;
• Apply critical validation to AI-generated outputs and ensure responsible usage of AI technologies;
• Contribute to the adoption of innovative QA practices and tools.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

• Collaborate with developers, business stakeholders and distributed teams to ensure product quality;
• Document test assets, testing approaches and reusable knowledge;
• Promote a quality-first mindset across the software development lifecycle.

PROFILE

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field;
• 4+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance;
• Professional level of English (mandatory);
• Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, testing techniques and software development lifecycles;
• Hands-on experience with automated testing tools such as Playwright, Selenium or Cypress;
• Experience testing web applications and REST APIs;
• Practical experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps environments;
• Working knowledge of SQL and data validation techniques;
• Knowledge of a programming language for test automation (Java is preferred);
• Experience with bug tracking and test management tools;
• Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted tools in software testing activities;
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Strong communication and collaboration skills;
• Detail-oriented, proactive and quality-driven mindset;
• Ability to work autonomously in an international and agile environment.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with Postman or Bruno;
• Testing experience in AI-powered applications and LLM-based functionalities;
• Knowledge of Agentic AI tools and MCP integrations;
• Exposure to Java/Spring Boot, Angular, WordPress, Laravel, Symfony or React environments;
• Experience with accessibility, security and performance testing; ISTQB Certification.
