Job summary
ALTEN Porto established a Center to deliver IT, administrative, and business support for the Group’s international operations. We seek an experienced Development & QA Tech Lead to guide a multidisciplinary team of Developers and QA Engineers, aligned with a France-based Tech Lead to ensure delivery excellence across Europe.
The role emphasizes AI-assisted development, scalable architectures, and a collaborative, high‑performance culture across multiple locations. English fluency is mandatory.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; 8+ years of experience in software engineering and technical leadership roles.
- Proven experience managing development and/or QA teams, including performance management and team development.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Angular development.
- Experience designing APIs, scalable applications, and maintainable software architectures.
- Good working knowledge of PHP and WordPress environments.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, pull request workflows, and software quality controls.
- Strong experience defining QA strategies, test automation frameworks, and quality processes.
- Knowledge of software security principles, audit readiness, and operational risk management.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools and modern software delivery practices.
- Ability to drive innovation initiatives and evaluate emerging technologies pragmatically.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural and multi-site environments.
- Fluent English (mandatory).
Responsibilities
- Lead technical design, architecture decisions, and development best practices.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and code reviews to development teams.
- Collaborate with international teams to ensure technical alignment and delivery excellence.
- Manage and develop a multidisciplinary team of Developers and QA Engineers.
- Conduct performance reviews, career development discussions, and team coaching.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Define and promote software quality standards and testing strategies.

- Promote AI-assisted development and testing practices; evaluate new technologies.
- Support implementation of scalable and efficient digital solutions.

In this context, we are looking for an experienced Development & QA Tech Lead to join the Group IT (DSI) department and lead a multidisciplinary development and quality assurance team based in Porto. The successful candidate will manage a local team composed of QA Engineers, Java Developers, and Web Developers while working in close collaboration with a France-based Tech Lead to ensure alignment of technical strategy, delivery excellence, and quality standards across multiple locations.
The application landscape includes strategic Group IT solutions used by tens of thousands of users across Europe, covering Java/Spring Boot services, Angular applications, APIs, PostgreSQL databases, Azure-based delivery pipelines, WordPress/PHP web platforms, and emerging AI-powered solutions. AI-assisted and agentic software development practices are increasingly embedded into the delivery model, making innovation and continuous improvement key components of the role.
