Job summary

Extia, a leading engineering consultancy, is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to own automated testing of backend and middleware applications. You will design and execute automated scripts, collaborate with Business Analysts, and drive end-to-end QA processes across the software delivery lifecycle.

You will use Python, work in Linux environments, and apply AI tools to optimize testing workflows and improve coverage.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in quality assurance, software testing, and test automation.
• Hands-on testing of backend and middleware applications.
• Proficiency in test automation tools and Python scripting.
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and release validation.
• Experience partnering with Business Analysts to validate requirements and risk.
• Good knowledge of Linux OS and command-line tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Familiarity with AI tools to enhance testing processes.

• Experienced QA Automation Engineer with strong hands‑on experience in testing backend and middleware applications
• Proven expertise in test automation tools, scripting, and automation frameworks, with proficiency in Python
• Strong understanding of the end-to-end software delivery lifecycle, including requirements analysis, test planning, test execution, defect management, regression testing, release readiness, and post-deployment validation
• Solid experience designing, maintaining, and executing test plans and test cases to ensure software quality and reliable delivery
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to perform root cause analysis and investigate complex defects and integration issues
• Good knowledge of Linux operating systems and command‑line tools
• Ability to collaborate closely with Business Analysts and cross‑functional teams to validate business requirements, identify coverage gaps, and improve test scenarios
• Familiarity with AI tools to create, enhance, or optimize testing processes
• Fluent English is required

What You’ll Do:

• Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks to ensure the quality and reliability of software applications
• Perform comprehensive testing of backend and middleware systems, validating functionality, integrations, and data flows
• Analyze business requirements in collaboration with Business Analysts and translate them into effective test plans, test cases, and testing scenarios
• Manage the end-to-end QA lifecycle, from requirements and scope analysis through test planning, execution, defect management, regression testing, and release readiness
• Perform regression and integration testing to ensure that new developments and changes do not negatively impact existing functionality
• Identify, document, track, and investigate defects, conducting root cause analysis and collaborating with development teams to resolve issues
• Validate application behavior following deployment and support post-deployment testing activities to ensure release quality
• Use Python to develop scripts, automate repetitive testing activities, and improve testing efficiency
• Work with Linux environments, using command‑line tools to investigate issues, execute tests, and analyze application behavior
• Leverage AI tools to create or enhance test cases, improve automation, optimize testing workflows, and increase overall QA efficiency

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven professional experience in Quality Assurance, software testing, and test automation
• Strong hands‑on experience testing backend and middleware applications
• Proficiency in test automation tools and Python scripting
• Solid understanding of the software development and delivery lifecycle, including requirements analysis, test planning, execution, defect management, regression, and release validation
• Experience collaborating with Business Analysts to validate requirements, improve test coverage, and identify potential integration risks
• Good knowledge of Linux operating systems and command‑line tools
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues and perform root cause analysis
